A 34-year-old Ihuoma Julia Nneji, daughter of Frank Nneji, the owner of ABC Transport, has alleged that she was declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force without ever receiving an invitation, notification, or being informed of any petition against her.
Nneji’s name and photograph were recently published in a Special Police Gazette Bulletin issued by the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) in Abuja.
She is accused of criminal defamation, injurious falsehood, and cyberstalking. However, she insists the allegations are baseless and stem from a personal vendetta by her former fiancé, Henry Uzochukwu.
In a statement released over the weekend, Nneji said she was shocked to learn that she had been declared wanted without any formal communication from the police.
“I was never invited, questioned, or informed about any complaint,” she said. “To wake up and see my name on a wanted list was shocking, humiliating, and deeply unfair.”
Explaining the origin of the dispute, Nneji revealed that she met Uzochukwu in April 2024, and their relationship quickly moved toward marriage.
However, plans for their November wedding were abruptly cancelled by Nneji in August 2024 after what she described as “disturbing discoveries” about Uzochukwu’s personal life.
“This conflict began when I called off our wedding after uncovering unresolved issues regarding Henry’s sexuality,” Nneji stated.
“I found incriminating evidence suggesting he is gay and decided not to proceed with the marriage.”
Nneji claimed further investigations revealed a troubling pattern in Uzochukwu’s past relationships.
“I discovered that not only did he have an interest in men, but he had also been engaged multiple times without revealing why those engagements failed,” she said.
“In fact, the woman he was supposed to marry before me left him just a week before their wedding over the same issue.”
According to her, after calling off the wedding, she became the target of harassment, threats, and false accusations from Uzochukwu.
“Since the wedding cancellation, Henry has relentlessly harassed and threatened me,” she alleged.
“He falsely accused me of running an Instagram page spreading rumours about him — a claim that is speculative and completely untrue.”
Nneji insisted that she has never defamed, blackmailed, or stalked anyone, either on her verified social media pages or elsewhere.
“I have always conducted myself with integrity,” she said.
“The real victim here is me. I am being punished for refusing to go ahead with a marriage built on deception.”
She further called on the Nigeria Police Force to respect due process and ensure fairness.
“I urge the authorities to thoroughly investigate the matter and hear my side of the story before reaching any conclusions,” Nneji pleaded.
SaharaReporters previously reported that the police had declared Nneji wanted over a barrage of cybercrime allegations.
A special circular issued by the Police National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCC) accused Miss Nneji of engaging in “criminal defamation, injurious falsehood, and cyberstalking”, charges that have sent shockwaves through elite circles.
The dramatic declaration was made public via the official Facebook page of the Force, signalling the seriousness of the allegations.
It was alleged that between August and September 2024, Nneji spearheaded a coordinated cyberbullying and blackmail campaign against an Abuja-based businessman.
While the police remain tight-lipped about the identity of the victim, insiders allege the attacks were carried out with calculated precision by Nneji and a clique of online accomplices.
The scandal exploded into the public domain on September 24, 2024, when social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, aka VeryDarkMan (VDM), waded into the matter. In a video that went viral, VDM issued a 24-hour ultimatum to Nneji, demanding she retract her defamatory claims or face public exposure.
“You have 24 hours to take down the defamatory content and tender an apology. If you don’t, I will come out with all the evidence and make sure the truth comes to light,” VDM thundered in his post.
Meanwhile, police authorities have urged anyone with helpful information about her whereabouts to contact the nearest police station or report directly to the National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja.
