Access Bank Plc, One of Africa’s leading Banks, with operations across Sub-Saharan
Africa and the UK, has further consolidated its position as a service focused bank in
Nigeria by been adjudged the “Best Local Bank in Nigeria 2014” by EMEA Finance
Magazine.
The award recognizes the impressive achievements made by Access Bank over the
past year. This includes a successful bond offering in June which raised $400m of
additional capital for the bank to finance growth of the loan book, as well as impressive
financial results which demonstrate strong progress made in earnings and deposit
growth.
Access Bank’s Chief Executive, Herbert Wigwe, said: “We are honored to receive this
award. It is formal recognition of the talents, expertise and hard work of all our staff and

The Bank was earlier this year adjudged the best Nigerian company in corporate
citizenship in the first ever competitive index on corporate social responsibility in
Nigeria, by CSR-in-Action. It also won the Best Bank In CSR at the recently held
Business Day award. Access Bank is rated B (Fitch) and A+ Agusto & Co.
Access Bank Plc has also recently introduced several innovative business solutions
this year like the launch of its online community “W”, which provides a forum for women
to share information and experiences, it also unveiled the Maternal Health Support
Scheme (MHSS) and exciting banking solutions designed to cater for the financial and
lifestyle needs of women.
According to the award organizers, the award recognizes financial institutions that
are industry leaders, consistently report strong financial performance and significantly
contribute to the quality of service offered by the financial services industry within their
country and across the African continent. The Bank was chosen from several entries
from around Africa.
The awards will be officially presented to the Bank at an award ceremony which will be
held in London in December.
