Bukola Saraki celebrates son Seni’s Grammy win

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has congratulated his son, Seni, on his victory at the 67th Grammy Awards.

Seni earned his first Grammy for his contribution to the Bob Marley: One Love soundtrack, which won Best Reggae Album.

In a post on X, Saraki expressed his joy at seeing his son’s passion recognised on a global stage, adding that he is “super proud” of him.

“Congratulations, Seni, on winning your first Grammy last night for your work on the Bob Marley: One Love soundtrack, which took home the award for Best Reggae Album!” he wrote.

“Seeing you pour your heart into your passion and having it recognised on the global stage is an indescribable joy. Well done! We are super proud of you!”

Reacting to the win, Seni expressed gratitude to all the artists and producers who contributed to the project’s success, including Nigeria’s Wizkid and Bloody Civilian.

“I appreciate all the amazing artistes, producers and engineers who were brave enough to take on this project because it is about Bob Marley’s legacy,” he said.

“I appreciate them for taking on the songs, reinterpreting them, and doing it their own way. Artists like Bloody Civilian, Wizkid, Daniel Caesar, and Jessie Reyez.”

Bob Marley: One Love is a biographical film depicting the life of the reggae icon, exploring how he overcame adversity and the journey behind his revolutionary music.

This is not Seni’s first major industry recognition. In 2023, the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, a project he worked on as a music consultant, earned four Grammy nominations.

A graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science, Seni is the CEO of The Native, a Lagos-based music magazine he co-founded with Teni ‘Teezee’ Zaccheaus in 2016. The publication celebrates music, style, and art while championing African sounds and culture.

Popular content creator Ifeluv has announced her break-up with her fiancé and baby daddy, singer Oluwadolarz.

SOCIETY REPORTERS reports that the development comes four months after singer Oluwadolarz proposed to Ifeluv.

In a post on her Instagram page on Tuesday evening, Ifeluv accused Oluwadolarz of infidelity and financial irresponsibility.

In a lengthy statement, she claimed that he had failed to fulfil his promises after their engagement.

She wrote: “I left him the first time because of cheating. He spent two years trying to convince me that he had changed.

“Meanwhile, I have been taking 85 per cent responsibility for our child because he is broke most of the time. Just living a fake life and chasing anything in a skirt. He absolutely has nothing to his name. If you give him an advert deal, he won’t deliver.

“Brands keep threatening him, and every time he sees me achieving something, he starts crying because he hates it. But guess what? I make my own money.

“I rarely even visit him. He even embarrassed me online with a public apology, and I let it slide, accepting his proposal—only to go pick up my son at his place and find his actress, Lola, hiding in the bathroom. And this guy looked me dead in the eye and said nothing was going on!

“This man was my absolute first. But now? It’s over.”

Oluwadolarz has not responded to the allegations at the time of this report.

Court summons VeryDarkMan over defamation of Mercy Chinwo

A Chief Magistrate’s Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, has summoned controversial blogger, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan over alleged criminal defamation of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo.

The court, in a summons dated March 5, 2025, ordered VDM to appear in person on March 13, 2025, to respond to allegations brought against him by Chinwo.

Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna issued the directive following claims that the blogger made damaging statements about the singer on social media.

The dispute stems from VDM’s online posts, where he accused Chinwo of misappropriating $345,000 allegedly linked to her former record label boss, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, also known as Eezee Tee.

The singer, however, dismissed the claims as false, providing emails, receipts, and other documents to counter the allegations.

In the criminal complaint filed by her legal team, led by Pelumi Olajengbesi of Law Corridor, Chinwo argued that VDM’s actions violated Sections 391 of the Penal Code and Section 24(1)(B) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015.

Aside from the criminal charges, Chinwo has also filed a N1.1 billion defamation lawsuit against the blogger at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The lawsuit seeks an order compelling VDM to delete all alleged defamatory posts, issue a public apology, and retract his statements.

Meanwhile, a separate case involving Eezee Tee remains before the Federal High Court in Lagos.

On February 17, 2025, the court upheld a subsisting arrest warrant against the record label executive over alleged fraudulent conversion, with his arraignment scheduled for March 6, 2025.

Chinwo’s lawyers contend that VDM’s social media posts, made on February 2, 3, 4, 5, 12, and 17, were intended to tarnish the singer’s image and mislead the public.

They maintain that the false claims have caused significant reputational damage, professional setbacks, and emotional distress to their client.

With the court summons now in place, all eyes will be on March 13, when VDM is expected to answer to the allegations before the magistrate.
