Corruption Allegations: ‘He Followed Due Process’ — Lagos Assembly Clears Obasa

The speaker of Lagos state house of assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, was on Monday exonerated of corruption allegations leveled against him. Saharareporters had accused Obasa of financial impropriety bordering on siphoning of public funds and abusing his office. Saharareporters’ accusations are the outcome of a trenchant and thorough investigation carried out by the online media platform. the speaker was allegedly to own more than 60 bank accounts. He was also accused of using his office to misappropriate funds and allocate contracts to himself through third-party sources and his cronies. Consequently, the assembly set up a panel to probe and authenticate the veracity of the allegations leveled against the speaker, the panel was chaired by Victor Akande, representative of Ojo constituency I, Appearing before the panel on Saturday, Obasa described the allegations as frivolous and untrue. He told the nine-man fact-finding panel that there was no way he could have done some of the things he was accused of doing, adding that the record of his financial dealings was in the public domain Akande presented the report of the fact-finding Adhoc committee to the house at the plenary session on Monday.
