There are indications that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, will likely issue an arrest warrant for flamboyant businesswoman, socialite and fashion mogul, Aisha Achimugu, preparatory to declaring her wanted for failing to honour an invitation in an alleged money laundering probe and investment scam.

About two weeks ago, Achimugu had launched a media campaign to deny being investigated by the EFCC after news about her ordeal with the anti-graft agency was first published by this newspaper.

We had exclusively reported that a civil society group had launched a petition against her, accusing her of shady dealings in a multi-million-naira contract awarded to her company by a South-West state.

But in a widely circulated statement on some media platforms, Achimugu issued series of denials, insisting that the story was false and was the handiwork of unscrupulous elements. She further urged the public to disregard the supposed ‘fake news.’

However, to counter the intense media campaigns by Achimugu’s camp which promoted a false narrative on social media that she is not under any probe by the EFCC, A letter written by the anti-graft agency and signed by Adebayo Adeniyi, EFCC’s acting zonal director in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The letter dated March 4 was sent to Achimugu’s residential address in Abuja.

“This commission is currently investigating a case in which the need to obtain certain clarification from you becomes imperative. In view of the above, you are kindly requested to attend an interview with the undersigned through the Head of Investigation on Wednesday, 5th March 2025, by 10:00 hours prompt,” the letter read.

Rather than reporting to the EFCC, Achimugu fled the country about two days after she got hold of the letter. The trip, the agency believes, was hurriedly arranged to evade interrogation and arrest.

With her discreet departure from the country, it is only a matter of time before an arrest warrant will be secured, preparatory to declaring her wanted.

Achimugu, the influential Chairman of Felak Concept Group, a firm that is into civil, structural and transportation engineering has long been a key player in Nigeria’s business and political landscape.

She spearheaded the ambitious Deep-Sea Port project in South-South Nigeria, a feat hailed as a historic achievement for a female entrepreneur.
In the last two years, Achimugu has bagged series of awards with the latest being the award of Entrepreneur of the Year at the Sun Newspapers Awards ceremony.
Beyond her boardroom conquests, Achimugu is a force to reckon with in elite circles from Lagos to Abuja.
Known for throwing lavish parties, wearing designer outfits and generally living a jet-set lifestyle, she commands attention wherever she goes.

Her Instagram page is a shrine to opulence, overflowing with images of exotic vacations, exclusive yacht parties and private jets. She has perfected the art of flaunting wealth at every given opportunity.
As the EFCC probe deepens, questions swirl about weather her gilded empire is built on solid ground or about to crumble.
