Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime has sworn Reverend Raphael Ifeanyichukwu Nwoye in as the new deputy governor for the state.
Chime swore in Nwoye on Monday at the EXCO Chambers of the Government House, Enugu.
The state House of Assembly had impeached the former occupant of the position, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi a week ago for operating a commercial poultry farm in his official lodge.
On Thursday, the House okayed Nwoye to replace Onyebuchi. His oath of office was administered by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Innocent Umezurike.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chime congratulated Nwoye expressing confidence that the administration would continue running without hindrances with the resumption of the new deputy.
“Drawing the analogy of a broken down vehicle, we have just replaced a bad spark plug, the vehicle is repaired and journey will be smooth again.” Chime said.
He said Nwoye was not new to him, both f them having served as commissioners in the previous administration. He said he was sure that Nwoye would bring his experience and background not just as a Minister of God but as a fine gentleman, to bear in the discharge of his duties.
He charged his new deputy to serve with diligence and cooperation with the government as well as the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Nwoye thanked God and Chime for the opportunity to serve as the deputy governor. He applauded Chime’s vision and good works, pledging unalloyed full support and commitment to his boss on the goal of ensuring that Enugu people continue to enjoy the benefits of good governance being delivered by the current administration.
