A dream is a powerful thing. Everyone dreams and aims to see their dreams actualized.
With hard work and some luck, almost any dream could be actualized. The greatest
dream killer, however, is self. It has been said over and over that man is his greatest
enemy. After all what enemy is greater than a man’s own character? Character could lift
a man and take him places, and it could just as easily break him down and shatter his
dreams.
We may never know how Bimbo Ashiru made his way up the political ladder but it is
clear that his progress has been stunted by his rumored cunning nature. Politics might
be a dirty game but no one likes a politician he has no loyalty, and this is the case with
Bimbo Ashiru.
Having served as a commissioner for commerce and industry in Ogun state under Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s
government, Bimbo Ashiru made a name for himself as a rumor monger with no loyalty.
According to reports, he was one to find favor with people by bringing them gossips,
then turn around and sell them out.
His trickery and cunning ways extend beyond seeking political favors, to manipulating
the press in order to force the hand of other politicians. According to our source, while
lobbying for the position of Ogun State SSG in the Dapo Abiodun government, he
leaked a story to the press claiming that the governor was going to appoint him as the
new SSG. After this was published, he again leaked another story to a different press
stating that he isn’t lobbying for the position of SSG.
It may be for this reason, or the fact that the people of Ogun State allegedly have no
love for the man and his ways, that he lost his chance to be the secretary to the state
governor, after all who would want a secretary they couldn’t trust?
Down on his luck, the old dog once again thought his cunning could get him into the
good graces of the president of the federation, thus he put himself to work lobbying for
the position of a minister.
Despite the president expanding his cabinet with an addition of six members, it seems
that Bimbo Ashiru’s luck had really run out, especially since he had burned the bridge
between he and his best friend Segun Awolowo, who might have been able to help him
in his bid for a ministerial appointment.
Having failed in his efforts to become the new SSG of Ogun State, a ministerial
appointment would have been his saving grace, so it is easy to understand why the
release of the list of ministers literally had the man in profuse tears.
This series of misfortune has had him wallowing in sorrow and deep contemplation
about his political career. And maybe it has even brought sense into him as he is now
reportedly trying to mend his relationship with Segun Awolowo, knowing that Awolowo
has been instrumental in his previous political success.
According to our sources, some of his allies advise that the best line of action for him
now is to go back to Gov. Dapo Abiodun and lobby for an appointment as commissioner
in Ogun State.
It would seem that although the man is down, he is far from ready to quit the game.
There is at the moment no reason to think he will be unsuccessful in his quest to be
commissioner but it would certainly not hurt his campaign if the man could change he
ways.
Our sources tell us that Ashiru’s next line of action is to go back to Gov. Dapo Abiodun,
and lobby for the position of commissioner, which is the advice given to him to him by
those who still consider him an ally.
