espite the tons of petition on her by the workers Union and key stakehokders in the tourism sector, the embattled Director General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) Mrs. Sally Mbanefo has not been issued a single query to explain herself as the Public Service Rules (PSR) demands, SocietyReporters have found out. The PSR requires that all those holding public office be made to respond to petition against them no matter how frivolous but not a single query has been issued the globe trotting former banker either from the parent ministry, the office of the Secretary to Government or the Presidency.
A competent source who didnt want to be named disclosed that the Minister of Culture High Chief Edem Duke who is supposed to initiate the query has been shielding the mulatto DG because of her alleged Romance’intimate relationship’ with the Secretary to Governnent of the Federation Senator Anyim Pius Ayim.
They are said to ‘be very close’ and even Chief Duke is said to be aware of their relationship which is why he has not been able to reprimand the NTDC boss who has allegedly ran the once vribrant NTDC aground. ‘The Ministers hands are tied. It was Anyim who got him to write the recommendation that made President Jonathan sack Otunba Runsewe to appoint her. So both the Minister and the office of the SGF have been blocking all the petition that have been addressed to President Jonathan on her misdemeanour’ the source said.
The source also said ‘ because of the weight of the petition some of which bordered on financial recklessness and lack of experience to run the Corporation, the right thing to do was to query her to respond to the issue and then an intern ministerial committee will be set up to examine her response against the petition and then advice. In some cases, she should even be on suspension while investigations are on. But nothing of these have been done. Rather the DG has been carrying on as if nothing has happened and that has left the Corporation grounded’.
