Emerging reports claimed that Justice Abdulwahab Mohammed of the grade 1 area court, Kubwa Abuja has ordered the police to arrest Senator Hope Uzodinma representing Orlu zone, Imo west and produce him before September 25, 2018. Society Reporters gathered that Mohammed gave the order on Tuesday, September 18, following Uzodinma’s failure to attend court to respond to a direct criminal complaint pending against him. The judge said: “Pursuant to Section 131 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, a bench warrant is hereby issued against Senator Hope Uzodinma in view of his failure to attend court to answer to the complaint pending against him.” The complaint was issued against Uzodinma and his two companies by Chitex Ventures Ltd and Chima Akuzie, who claimed that the Senator issued them a N200 million UBA dud cheque (bounced cheque). The party said Senator Uzodinma had not formally informed the local government chapter of the party neither had he declared on the floor of the National Assembly that he had left his former party for APC. In a related development, emerging reports had it that two factions of the APC in Imo state disagreed on the method of the primary election the state will employ in the election of their candidates for next year’s poll. The faction led by the state chairman, Daniel Nwafor, was said to have earlier adopted the indirect mode of primaries for all elective positions in the party ahead of the 2019 elections. The coalition group disclosed that the adoption of direct primaries for all elective positions will be the most suitable, considering the litigations surrounding the ward, local and state congresses of the party in the state.
