Information available to us has it that a tragic incident occurred on Wednesday when the Director of Finance to the Ogun State governor’s office, Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi, was killed by armed robbers on Kuto Bridge in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
According to the source, Mr. Oyekanmi had withdrawn a large sum of money for government use from the Fidelity Bank in the state, when he was accosted by the robbers who made away by the assailants.
Oyekanmi, was a senior accountant with the Ogun State Government and was rushed to the state hospital in Ijaye immediately after the incident, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident and said that they were investigating the case, as according to the spokesperson of the state police, Omolola Odutola, no one died at the scene of the incident, but the commissioner of police, Abiodun Alamutu, admitted that Oyekanmi was killed by the gunmen.
Commissioner Alamutu said that Oyekanmi was accompanied by his driver and another person when they went to the Fidelity bank branch to make the withdrawal and assured that the police will do everything possible to apprehend the culprits and bring them to justice.
He also appealed to the public to provide any useful information that could help the police in their investigation.
