It was a day of glamour and joy at the prestigious Landmark Events center in Victoria Island, Lagos State as one of the most prominent society woman, Yetunde Ogbemudia, wife of the former governor of Old Bendel, Late. Dr. Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia gave her first daughter, Miss Nosakhare Oluwaseun Ogbemudia’s hand out in marriage to Mr. Ekan Oduwa Egonmwan, the son of Professor Rosemary J. Egonmwan of Benin city in Edo state.
The wedding ceremony which attracted dignitaries from all walks of life had in attendance the who is who in the social circle, serving and former prominent civil servants, members of the National and State Houses of Assemblies, Royal fathers as well as business moguls. The Landmark events center, corporation road Victoria island, lagos, the venue of the traditional engagement ceremony was filled to its brim with various caliber of dignitaries, whose power dressings and the various Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) that ferried them to witness the holy matrimony, marked them out as the fortunate ones. The event was chaired by the deputy governor of Edo state, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu, who was at his best, and also advised the couple on how to be best of friends. ” what is happening today is a testimony of the kindness and good character of the couple’s parents” praying that God will continue to protect the union and give them the wisdom to live in perfect harmony”.
Their love story was very touchy. The bride spoke to SOCIETY REPORTERS at the event narrating their love story, “We met at the university in London. He was at Imperial and I was at Kings. We dated briefly initially after which I had to move and the relationship ended. We reconnected a few years later when I got back to London and he asked me out on a first date. After 6 months in, we had connected on so many different levels. He was so supportive of me in medical school and we’ve been together ever since. We were blissfully in love, all I could think about was spending the rest of my life with him. I was going to be away for ten months for my medical degree and I was very sad that we’d be apart for so long. Before I left he took me out for a special private send-off dinner, after which he proposed to me at the Berkeley hotel in London.”
Expressing her joy, the bride’s mother, Yeye Yetunde Ogbemudia thanked all for honouring and sharing in her family’s happiness urging the couple to imbibe tolerance, trust and the fear of God as the foundation of their marriage.
Dignitaries at the talk of the town wedding were popular Socialite Chief Olu Okeowo, Chief Adebutu Kessington, Chief Mrs Doyin Abiola, Ogun State First Lady Yeye Funke Amosun, Chief Mrs Mulikat Folawiyo ( who stood strongly by the brides mother), Alhaja Tai Elemosho (Montai), Chief Mrs Funke Akinyera, Caroline Adeneye and her Husband Dayo Adeneye, Vice Chancellor University of Lagos Sir J.K Randle, Chief Mrs Omoriodion, Mrs Helen Innegbeniki, Her Excellency Mrs Gladys Ndubuisi Kanu. They also include The Lady Mechanic Sandra Aguebor, Chioma Madubiko, Angela Ebagua, Mrs Adesuwa Edosomwan, Mrs Yvonne Aluya, Eldest child of Late General Ogbemudia, Rev. Mrs Dele George and husband Capt. Jide George. Also was a delegation from the University of Abuja led by the wife of the VC Mrs Adikwu, Ministry of Education Representative Mrs Ariba, and wife of former VC Mrs. Adelabu among several others at the event.
