They can protest all over the streets of Asaba demanding for arrears of pensions owed them; they can chose to lie on the floor protesting for nonpayment of salaries and the powers that be in Delta State is not perturbed but has given green light to some of his aides to make profits at the expense of the State, news reaching us through a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which is in possession of this medium is alleging. According to our sources, one of those secretly living large off the government to the detriment of Deltans is Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s Personal Assistant (PA) on Special Duties, Mr David Siunoje alias Mama who the Governor is banking on seriously to dislodge the rising opposition in Aniocha South in 2019 and is allegedly secretly empowering him financially towards carrying out such task. According to the petition to the EFCC, Mama has become a multi-millionaire overnight since the inception of Okowa’s regime, using numerous and fictitious companies to carry out contracts, mainly substandard ones in Aniocha and Asaba. “The SUBEB and SPEB jobs is where the aide has made so much money, without his companies going for any bidding”, part of the petition stated. Mama has found new wealth and in display of such allegedly went to a car shop in Atlanta Georgia, USA, where he got a new car and shipped to Nigeria. He is said to have also bought a land in Asaba where he intends to build an estate with his newly ill-gotten wealth. Contracts carried out by him has allegedly fetched him N470 million in just two years in office, the petition further stated, and called on the Commission to begin massive investigations and probe of not just Mama but all his aides living flamboyantly.

JUST IN: Fire guts FIIRO office in Lagos

The Federal Institute of Industrial Research (FIIRO), office in Oshodi, Lagos, near Cappa Bus Stop has been gutted by fire.

The Nation gathered that men of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, in collaboration with the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority are currently on the ground to contain the incident.

Although no casualties have been reported so far, the fire has reportedly destroyed property worth millions of naira.

Efforts are underway to prevent the flames from spreading to adjoining offices and buildings.

The cause of the fire remains unknown at the time of filing this report.

Ogun gov appoints ex-commissioner Oluwatoyin Taiwo as chief of staff

The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has appointed Oluwatoyin Taiwo as his Chief of Staff.

Prior to this appointment, Taiwo was the Deputy Chief of Staff to the governor.

This was according to statement signed by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, and made available to journalists on Thursday.

Akinmade said that Abiodun, on Wednesday, handed over the letter of appointment to Taiwo.

The statement added, “The appointment, according to the letter, took effect from 18th December 2024.

“The governor, while congratulating the new Chief of Staff, described the appointment as well-deserved”.

Taiwo had served as Commissioner for Culture and Tourism during Abiodun’s first term and was subsequently elevated to the position of Deputy Chief of Staff before his new role.

He is an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where he obtained a B.Sc. in Statistics before pursuing further degrees up to Ph.D.
