The Osun State House of Assembly has issued a warrant of arrest on the immediate past Commissioner for Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development in the state, Muyiwa Ige. Muyiwa is the son of the former Minister of Justice, Bola Ige, who was murdered in December 2001.
The warrant of arrest was issued following Ige’s refusal to appear before the house to answer some questions regarding a controversial piece of land that was allocated at the Illobu area while he was in office.
Ige’s warrant of arrest was announced on the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation yesterday, Wednesday, December 13th. The lawmakers said a letter was written to Ige to appear before the house yesterday but that he failed to honor it neither did he contact them that he was not coming. The lawmakers in anger asked that the announcement for his arrest be made on the state broadcasting corporation. The Majority leader of Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Timothy Owoeye, signed the warrant of arrest issued against Muyiwa Ige.
Muyiwa Ige on his part said he never knew that he was invited by the house and has expressed shock and anger at the warrant of arrest the lawmakers issued on him.
