The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has replaced its suspended National Chairman, Mr. Iyorchia Ayu, with an acting National Chairman.
The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) on Tuesday appointed Umar Damagum, in an acting capacity to pilot the affairs of the party till further notice.
Damagum’s appointment was disclosed by the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, at a press conference on Tuesday, at the party’s secretariat.
Recall that the Ward Executive of the PDP in Igyorov Ward of Gboko Local Government Area of Benue state during the weekend suspended Ayu for alleged anti party activities.
On Monday, a Benue State High Court issued an interim order restraining Ayu from acting or parading himself as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Earlier also, the embattled National Chairman, Ayu, was reported to have been in his office at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja on Tuesday.
Ayu was restrained from parading himself as the national chairman of PDP on Monday by a court following a purported suspension by his Benue State ward.
