In his days as the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu was a very popular name.
He had worked as the Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), and garnered a lot of private sector experience, making his appointment as minister a worthy one.
Simply put, he was a breath of fresh air. Though a junior minister, he still made himself a recurring decimal in the affairs of the ministry.
Within months of his appointment, he had unveiled a master plan that cut across deregulation, and ensuring that the country’s moribund refineries began working.
At a point, he became so powerful that his detractors began skimming on how to clip him; hence he fell out with a lot of people and was subsequently relieved of his job in May 2019.
Since then, not much has been heard of the former Executive Vice-Chairman and General Counsel for Exxon Mobil (Africa), as he has simply been out of circulation.
Though Kachikwu stepped out with his wife Elizabeth on a couple of occasions after he was relieved of his appointment as minister, the social scene appears a different turf for him, as he simply recoiled into his shell.
Today, there is hardly a mention of the man, as questions of his whereabouts have become popular.
