Nigeria’s most wanted criminal in the 1990s, Shina Rambo, has resurfaced in the Ekiti capital claiming to have seen the light of God.

In an interview on Sunday night on a Yoruba program observed on Fresh FM Radio, Ado Ekiti, and anchored personally by ace gospel singer, Yinka Ayefele.

Rambo, who gave his real name as Oluwasina Oluwagbemiga, confirmed himself as the once terrifying armed robber who rocked Nigeria.

He said so many people, especially the police, would be surprised to hear that the same man they claimed to have killed on a number of occasions was still alive today.

Claiming that he was now a complete child of God preaching the gospel in prisons and other reform centres, Rambo, who gave 1958 as his year of birth, said he was born as a native of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, but was raised in Benin city.

”My father was a prominent person, and a soldier moving from one part of the country to the other. In my attempt to acquire black power then, I went to a total of 21 places, prominent among which were Minna, Niger state, and later Oro, in present day Kwara.

”I was in one of those places for 91 days in Idanre, Ondo state, where we were mandated to be sucking the milk of a possessed woman’s breast, as our only food and water, so occult powers can transmit to our body.

”At the end of the whole exercise, I possessed a total of 901 power images that can be used to cajole or disappear at a scene of crime and project the image of another person. So, if I was killed at a particular point, I had the powers to resurface in another place in another form”, he said.

Rambo expressed regret over his roles in a series of deadly crimes that held the country in chaos for years, claiming that he was misguided by evil spirits.

He said the moment he accepted Christ, he realized he had no more occult powers as the spirit of God suddenly descended on him directing him to drop all his bad habits and start preaching about God.

The Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, has been announced as the recipient of the prestigious Minister of the Year Award by the Board of Editors of the New Telegraph Newspaper. The award letter was formally presented to the Minister today at his office in Abuja by the management team of the newspaper, led by its Managing Director, Mr. Ayo Aminu, and Editor-In-Chief, Juliet Bumah.

During the presentation, Mr. Ayo Aminu lauded the Minister’s exceptional achievements and transformative impact on Nigeria’s aviation sector. “We have watched with keen interest the impressive track records of the Honourable Minister. He won this nomination convincingly, leaving the Board of Editors with no choice but to unanimously select him for this award. The formal ceremony is scheduled to hold on February 21, 2025, in Lagos,” Aminu said.

In his acceptance speech, Festus Keyamo SAN expressed gratitude to the New Telegraph Newspaper for the recognition and commended the publication’s integrity. “The New Telegraph has withstood the test of time, operating without any form of story retraction, which is commendable,” the Minister said.

Reflecting on the significance of the award, the Minister noted, “You’re not alone in this recognition; other reputable newspapers have also nominated us for similar award. This alignment of thought across the media landscape shows that we are doing something right. This award is not just for me—it is a collective effort of my CEOs, Special Advisers, and my entire team. It will only motivate us to achieve more milestones in the aviation sector.”

The Honourable Minister also confirmed his commitment to attending the award ceremony in Lagos, saying, “I will be there in person to receive this honour.”

The New Telegraph Minister of the Year Award is a testament to Keyamo’s exemplary leadership, policy reforms, and unwavering commitment to advancing Nigeria’s aviation sector since assuming office in August 2023.

Governor Seyi Makinde loses brother

Engineer Sunday Makinde, the eldest brother of Oyo Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde is dead.

He died on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 65.

A brother of the deceased, who is also the Bada Olubadan of Ibadanland and Head of Aigbofa Family of Oja’ba, Ibadan, Chief Olumuyiwa Makinde, wrote: “With a heavy heart, I announce the passage of my older brother, Engr Sunday Makinde, to eternal glory today, Friday 24th of January 2025.

“His sudden death occurred in his Ibadan residence at 3.20am today, Friday 24th January 2025

“He is survived by siblings, among whom is the Executive Governor of Oyo state, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, children and grand children.”

The Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government Dr Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo has embarked on a city-to-city engagement with cities in the United States of America. The engagement began with the Office of the Mayor of Boston on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at the office Mayor Michelle Wu where Dr Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo met with the economic and development team of the office of the mayor led by Mr. Segun Idowu the Chief Economic Opportunity and Inclusion officer.
The meeting afforded the chairman the opportunity to pitch Abeokuta as a city ready for both businesses, cultural and learning exchanges between Boston and Abeokuta. Highlighting that Abeokuta is the educational capital of Nigeria aside it’s proximity to Lagos and the fact that Abeokuta North is 70% arable land fit for agriculture and can be a net producer of cassava.
At the meeting, Mr. Idowu mentioned that Dr Oyegbola-Sodipo would be the first Nigerian to have visited the office of the mayor with such a proposition though there have been conversations with representatives of other African cities.
He expressed his interest and joy seeing that a city in Nigeria would finally be on the consideration map for exchange programme and opportunities available within the larger sister-city framework, and where jointly as governments, the benefits of city-to-city conversations and memorandum of understanding that can bring policymakers, entrepreneurs, and international businesses together to promote economic growth and development can begin.
Further into the meeting, the possibilities of setting up wider consolations and engagements with the largest black community in Boston was discussed. Mr. Idowu believes that this would put the local government in contact with willing and proven investors, venture capital and entrepreneurs, stating that Boston is a preferred city with perhaps the largest assembly of these persons and interests because of its uniqueness and strong educational and inventive leanings.
At the meeting were Yuxi Wang the International Business Strategy Manager for the City of Boston office of the mayor of Boston, Massachusetts, USA and James Reginald Colimon, Deputy Director of Global Affairs & Protocol Mayor’s Office of Economic Opportunity & Inclusion.
