A former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu has noted that he is healthy but going through ‘gruesome’ physiotherapy in London.
Tinubu made this assertion on Friday, October 1, when he received members of the House of Representatives Northern Caucus who visited him in the United Kingdom.
A report by the PUNCH stated that the APC leader told his latest visitors that he was healthy but undergoing physiotherapy, which he said had been ‘gruesome.’
He reportedly said: “Because of God and people like you, I am well. It is just the physio (physiotherapy) that is gruesome.”
Tinubu has been in London since late July, after reportedly having surgery.
There were rumours that he died in early August; but his media aide debunked the claims.
A chieftain of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), Tinubu has been tipped as a possible successor to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Since arriving in London, Tinubu’s home (in the UK) has metamorphosed into a political pilgrimage.
Governors, including Lagos’ Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Ondo’s Rotimi Akeredolu; Ogun’s Dapo Abiodun; and Ekiti’s Kayode Fayemi, have visited him.
In September the Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila; and no fewer than other 30 prominent politicians in the country had visited Tinubu in London within two months.
Akeredolu, who doubles as the chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, had last month, said Tinubu was the ‘capone’ of the South, indicating that he (Tinubu) remained a foremost candidate for the APC (or the South) in the 2023 presidential poll.
Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar says there is no reason the masses in Nigeria are battling extreme poverty when the country is blessed with an abundance of resources.
Atiku made this known in his Independence Day statement on Friday, October 1, 2021.
He noted that it was regrettable that despite the nation’s vast oil resources; extreme poverty and joblessness have remained persistent.
“There is no excuse that 61 years after independence; extreme poverty is still staring the ordinary citizen in the face,” he lamented.
The former vice president called on the government at all levels to push policies; that would lead to improved standards of living for the average Nigerian.
“If this is done, I am confident that the future ahead of us will be brighter and better,” he stated.
